Nugget # 106 Life lesson from a wise boy!

Hi friends,

Hope you are all doing fine. This week I’d like to share a nugget inspired by a story written by Gradly that  I came across.

One day, a rich dad took his son on a trip to the village. He wanted to show him how poor someone can be. They spent time on the farm of a poor family. On their return from the trip, the dad asked his son, “How was the trip?” “It was great dad!” the son replied. “What did you learn from our trip?” dad asked. The son answered…

I saw that we have one dog, they have four….

We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden, they have a creek that has no end…

We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have stars at night….

Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon…

We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight…

We have servants that serve us but they serve others

We buy foods, they grow theirs…

We have walls to protect us…they have friends to protect them…

We have television, they spend their time with family…

We have the world, they have God.

The boy’s father was speechless while his son talked…and realized how right his son was. Then his son added…Thanks dad for showing me how poor we are.

Moral : It’s not money that makes us rich…its simplicity, love ,compassion, friendship, values, family….and our relationship to God that makes our lives rich.”

The lesson I could learn from the boy in the story is to always be grateful for what we have.

Here are some things that are priceless and yet cannot be purchased with money.

downloadMoney can buy you

A bed, but not sleep,

A computer but not a brain,

A house but not a home,

A clock but not time,

A book but not knowledge,

A position but not respect,

Food but not an appetite,

Finery but not beauty,

Medicine but not health,

Acquaintances but not friends,

Obedience but not faithfulness

Sex but not Love,

Amusements but not Happiness,

Luxuries but not Culture.

So you see Money isn’t everything.

I am reminded of the Bible verse “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world & forfeit his soul?”- Mark 8:36

Have a wonderful week!
