“There is no velvet as soft as a mother’s lap, No rose as lovely as her smile. No path as flowery as those imprinted with her footsteps.” – Archibald Thompson
The world all over celebrates Mother’s Day as a day to honor Mothers everywhere and let them know how much they mean to us. Ever wondered how it all began? The story of Mother’s Day is the story of the firm determination of a daughter named Anna Jarvis who resolved to honor her mother’s wish.
It all started one Sunday when Anna was 12 years old, her mother Mrs Jarvis concluded a Bible class on ‘Mothers of the Bible’, with the following small prayer, “I hope that someone, sometime will found a memorial mother’s day commemorating her for the matchless service she renders to humanity in every field of life. She is entitled to it.”
Anna never forgot this prayer. And at her Mother’s graveside service, she recalled the prayer and said, “…by the grace of God, you shall have that Mother’s Day.” After the death of her mother in 1905, Anna Jarvis dedicated her life to fulfill her mother’s dream of the recognition of a day for honoring mothers. Though never a mother herself, the Founder of Mother’s Day, Anna Jarvis is today widely recognised as the ‘Mother of Mother’s Day’. Let us learn a lesson from her remarkably ceaseless devotion to her mother and mothers everywhere.

“Mother and Love differ only in name for the miracles they work are one and the same!”
Nugget of Life : Remember, No gift to your mother can ever equal her gift to you! – which is your LIFE.
Have an awesome week!
