Nugget # 21 Life is a complicated Tapestry

Life is a complicated Tapestry, woven with a loom and shuttle. Heredity, environment, relationships, experiences, health, spirituality, education, career, interests, life’s joys and sorrows – all of these are like the different colored strings that pass from one side of the loom to the other. And this action together with our responses weaves the design in the Tapestry of our Life.

As we look at the different colored balls of strings, the incomplete picture, the uncertainty of completion we may feel doubtful, maybe at times even overwhelmed for it undoubtedly is a complicated tapestry! We may not always understand all parts of the process or why certain things happen when they do happen but we still need to keep on weaving. Though each individual strand may seem fragile and insignificant on its own; each one is an integral part of the Bigger Picture!

NUGGET OF LIFE: If we wait to know all the answers and then start to do something, we will wait forever. So let’s just keep weaving believing that one day, we will get our answers and then suddenly everything will make perfect sense.

Have a great week!

Cheers,

Sparky Laurie

Nugget # 20 Life lesson from a Fishing trip

Hi, this week I’d like to share a much needed lesson we can learn from a fishing trip story of a father and son.

A father and his son went fishing on a small boat, hungry.

The father helped his son reel in his first fish, and it was a beauty. “Great catch, son,” the father said.

“Yes, but I’m worried I’m missing out on better fish,” the son said. “What if I could catch a bigger, tastier fish?”

“Maybe you should try,” the father said.

And the son did, catching an even bigger fish an hour later. “A real beauty,” the father said.

“But what if there are better fish out there?” the son asked.

“Maybe you should try,” the father said.

And the son did, catching a bigger fish, and then wondering if there were better fish, he went on and on and on.

At the end of the day, the son was exhausted. The father asked, “How did the fish taste?”

The son hesitated. “I’m not sure. I was so busy looking for better fish that I didn’t taste any of them.”

The father smiled contentedly, patted his belly. “Don’t worry. They were delicious.”

Nugget of Life: There is no end to lovely things in the world & though it is our privilege to go out and get whatever we want in life, let us not get so over involved in the process of accumulation that we totally forget the very purpose of it!

Cheers,

Sparky Laurie

Nugget # 19 Life is like a Hula hoop

Hi, this week I’d like to share with you some life lessons from a Hula hoop.

The Hula hoop is a toy hoop twirled around the waist/ limbs/neck. Its history dates back to ancient Egypt, where hoops were made from grapevines/stiff grasses. The hoop became popular in the late 1950s when a plastic version was made. Today, people of all ages and from different walks of life, use the hula hoop for fun and for fitness.

I’ve been fascinated by the Hula hoop ever since I got my first pink and white one as a little girl. Twirling it always made me happy. The hula hoop is not only good for exercise; it is also a great stress buster and mood lifter! Can you even imagine a grim faced person twirling the hoop and not breaking out into a smile? That’s the magic of a hula hoop! 😉

While reading this article about Hulaerobics, some Life lessons came to me from some of the pointers mentioned :

1) Start with power : To get anything done in life ,we need to start strong and then work our way consistently towards our goal.

2) Move in the right direction: We need to know our destination if we have to reach there.

3) Be instinctive: Trust your heart, it never lies. It may make mistakes but it will never betray you.

4) Save the hoop at all costs: Sometimes when life’s storms hit, it is easy to give up but we need to push against the current and use every bit of our will to hang in there and do whatever we can so that we do not lose what we have.

5) Balance: We need to learn how not to rock the boat of our life. We can do this by Prioritization and seeing which area of our life needs our immediate attention at the present moment: Is it  Health/ Finances/ Career/ Relationship/ Family/Children/Spirituality/Hobbies/Interests.  (Related link : LIFE IS LIKE JUGGLING)

6) Breathe: I love this point- The author actually says “Remember to Breathe”– and yes ,we often need a  Breather in life – a well deserved TIME OUT where we can actually do something for ourselves that we love and enjoy so that we can get back to our life’s duties and responsibilities more energized and less stressed and frazzled.

7)Stand Tall: Another fav one- We need to recognize who we are and what we have.We can improve only  if we start with what we already have .

8)Be Patient: Not one of my natural virtues, but we need to be patient with ourselves and with others if we want to do better in life.

Nugget of Life: Life is like a hula hoop, keep twirling to keep fit – (in every area of life) ; but more importantly don’t forget to have fun!

If you enjoyed this post, there’s more…. Here’s a FUN Hula hoop Song Video just for you!

Have a great week,

Cheers,

Nugget # 18 Life is like a Rubik’s Cube

“Life is like a Rubik’s cube – sometimes you have to make it worse before you can make it better.”

The Rubik’s Cube is a “magic cube” invented in 1974 by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Ernő Rubik. Originally intended for his students to better understand 3D structures; today it is the world’s top selling puzzle game.

There are about 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 possible permutations for a Rubik’s cube but there is only 1 right solution! I mean, can things ever get more complicated than that? And the amazing thing is that any Rubik’s Cube can be solved in less than or equal to 22 moves! Children of Man play with and successfully master the complex Rubik’s Cube, and yet Man doubts himself when it comes to dealing with the complexities of his life!

I agree, Life is complicated but now, let’s put things in proper perspective : Life is unfair but it is unfair to everyone, so life is fair! What happens to us does not really matter as much as what we make of it when it does! If life hands us bitter lemons, let’s add some sugar and make some good lemonade!

NUGGET OF LIFE: Sometimes it gets worse before it gets better! And when it does, just hang in there and say to yourself “Everything happens for a Reason”!

Enjoy this beautiful Video; it may change your life forever!

Cheers,

Sparky Laurie

Nugget # 17 Life is like a flowing river

Life stands with all she has, her arms open wide welcoming us,  “Come and take as much as you want.”. It is Life’s great tragedy that inspite of her generous invitation,we never listen and seize as much as we can when she beckons to us and yet unfulfilled and dissatisfied, we always fill her ears with complaints when the chance is gone! Whose fault is it actually ? Enjoy this beautiful poem which gives us the same message!

I bargained with Life for a penny  –  by Jessie B Rittenhouse

I bargained with Life for a penny,
And Life would pay no more,
However I begged at evening
When I counted my scanty store.

For Life is a just employer,
He gives you what you ask,
But once you have set the wages,
Why, you must bear the task.

I worked for a menial’s hire,
Only to learn, dismayed,
That any wage I had asked of Life,
Life would have willingly paid.

Nugget of Life: LET’S GRAB THE BIGGEST BUCKETS AVAILABLE TO DRAW FROM THE OPPORTUNITES OF THE RIVER LIFE !

  Have a great week!
